Racing and Launching

Bay Fleet races are held inside of Morro Bay. Because of the tidal changes, the water is mostly a two-way river with a strong current. We advertise our sailing as the ‘miniature golf’ of sailing because we sail amongst moored boats, active sea life, and share our sailing area with a wide variety of vessels.

When sailing in Morro Bay, most dingy sailors launch their boats from the club’s hoist, which requires that you have a sling and places to attach it on your boat. For Day Sailers without the ability to launch their boat using the hoist with a sling, there is a public launch ramp at the south end of Embarcadero, about a quarter of a mile from the Morro Bay Yacht Club.  Please remember that Morro Bay is salt water and be sure to rinse you trailer well after retrieving you boat from the water.
